Jusqu'a ici tout va bien
I've been neglecting this journal of late so I thought I'd post. Things have been pretty boring here really, but I guess things must have happened since my parents were away. I'm back at school now - I have been for a week and a half. I'm glad exams are over, but now I really can't wait until august when we get the results! In a way its weird being back at school now, because some subjects like history and french have really eased off on the workload, but we're still getting tons of work for english. Get this - last week Miss S gave us a week to read a book and make a powerpoint presentation on it. I know that doesn't sound too bad, but when you think that that her homework only accounts for a third of our total english homework that's a lot! And a week to read it and do the presentation seems like not long enough to me. Anyway, we had to choose a fiction book about the First World War from the library, cos we're studying War poetry and fiction next year. I chose Private Peaceful by Michael Morpurgo, because he was my favourite author when I was younger, and you know with him you'll be getting something good. However, on my way out I was tempted to try and swap with Rosamund, because I saw she had Remeberance by Theresa Breslin, which I've read (I've read it several times actually, its that good), because I thought that way I wouldn't have to read it, but I decided to just stick with what I'd got. And I think it was a good choice. Private Peaceful was a really good book, and I liked the ending, though it was so sad. I'd assumed throughout the book that it was Tommo who was getting Court Marshalled, and I thought the fact that it was Charlie was really unexpected and even sadder in a way.

Talking of sad endings, in French we watched La Haine, which I've seen before, though I'd forgotten how it ended. Its such a good film. And its so sad how just when you think everythings going to be fine, when Vinz gives Hubert the gun, it ends so sadly. What I found really weird though was that when I watched it the first time a few years ago, I remember thinking that Hubert probably shot the policeman, and that the sad thing was that he'd either go to prison or be shot by the other policemen there. But Miss N's theory is that Hubert dies because apparently (and I'm going to watch it again to see if this is true) they take the bullets out of the gun earlier.

I've been watching the Euros avidly, and supporting Spain equally avidly! I think Holland are going to win it though, or possibly Portugal. Spain have gone through to the next round, and are playing Italy, which I'm kind of worried about. I mean, Italy didn't look convincing at all against Holland and Romania, but I last night against France they looked a bit better. But still, I don't think their that good, and I reckon my worries are ones I'd have no matter who Spain was playing. But anyway, apparently David Villa might move to the premiership! Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are interested, though I think there can only really be one winner there, which is Chelsea, purely because of the money they have. I mean, I think all the reports of Fabregas saying he wants Villa at Arsenal are stupid really, and he's just making himself look like an idiot, because if Arsene Wenger wants Villa he's going to have to splash some serious cash. Valencia are insane if they sell him for any less than £25 million, and I just don't think Wenger's prepared to pay that much. And obviously, I'm really hoping he comes to Liverpool, but I can understand people at the club not wanting to spend like £50 million on strikers in two seasons. But anyway, David Villa has an autobiography out apparently. I'm wondering whether to buy it or not.

The premier league fixture lists are out, and I'm beginning to formulate my plan to see a Liverpool game for my 18th birthday. The game that stands out round then really is Liverpool v Arsenal, but its at the Emirates, so I'm not sure! I'll go over pros and cons of that game as opposed to any others, just to straighten it out in my head more than anything else. Pro - Its close (well, in London), which means no added costs of long train journeys to Liverpool and back. Pro - I'd get to see Liverpool playing Arsenal! Which is cool because I do think Arsenal play good football, and that game is always a corker (as the four this season proved beyond doubt). Pro - My dad supports Arsenal, so it'd be easier to persuade him to take me. Con - I want to go to Anfield! I don't know if it'd be the same at the Emirates. Anfield is special and I want to experience it before it gets knocked down. Con - Tickets for Arsenal games are really expensive, if what you hear in the press is true then their pretty much the most expensive tickets in English football, and thus probably the most expensive tickets in European football (I hear its a lot cheaper in Spain at least). So anyway, I don't know what to do! I do think that this game sounds like my best bet, and now I have just to convince my parents. Though I think I'm going to wait til they come back from Australia, and then ask them, because before then I get the impression they won't want to be spending that much money. And plus afterwards they won't have seen me for a month, so will deny me nothing (hopefully!) So I thought I'd wait and see and keep an eye open to see when tickets become available. If they become available before my parents leave I might broach it with them then, but I'm hoping they'll become available about the time my parents get back.

One piece of good news though regarding my parents is that I no longer have to eat fish! My mum and I agreed a compromise - I don't have to eat fish if I cook a dinner once a week, which sounds fair. And she said she'd help me at first, because I really am clueless when it comes to cooking.

I forgot, in other news we had my parents' and grandparents' aniversary party on saturday, and it was a really nice and enjoyed by all. There was so much food! And it was all really nice! I'm sorry, but my opinion of the food is usually a way to gage how much I liked the party, so yeah, it was really good.

Anyway, I think I've rabbited on enough for one day.
